New Maruti and Nexa Cars Prices After GST Revision

What changed in GST for cars

  • As of 22 September 2025, the GST rates on passenger vehicles in India were revised.
  • Small cars (less than 4 m length, petrol <1200 cc or diesel <1500 cc) are now taxed at 18% GST.
  • Bigger / luxury cars (longer than 4 m, or with larger engine) now attract 40% GST.
  • Earlier, many small / compact / hybrid cars had GST 28% + cesses (sometimes ~50%).
  • Therefore, the tax burden for many cars has gone down, and Maruti Suzuki (both Arena and Nexa lineups) has announced price reductions accordingly.

Who benefits the most

  • SUVs and crossovers like Brezza, Fronx, and Grand Vitara get the biggest cuts – around ₹1.1 lakh.
  • Small hatchbacks like Alto, Swift, WagonR also benefit, making them more affordable for first-time buyers.
  • Premium models like Invicto and Jimny see smaller reductions in percentage terms but still save lakhs on-road.

Why this matters

  • Price drops reduce EMIs, insurance, and registration costs, making ownership easier.
  • Festive season timing means higher demand and better deals for buyers.
  • Helps Maruti Suzuki compete strongly in the affordable SUV and premium hatchback market.

Things to keep in mind

  • Reductions are on ex-showroom prices – final on-road price still varies by state.
  • Discounts may differ based on variant, transmission, and dealer stock.
  • Old inventory might take time to reflect the new GST benefits.

Maruti Suzuki has passed on the GST revision benefits to customers, making many of its Arena and Nexa cars more affordable. With reductions ranging from ₹50,000 to ₹1.2 lakh, buyers across segments—from entry hatchbacks to premium SUVs—stand to gain. This move strengthens Maruti’s market position and gives customers a better opportunity to own a car at a lower cost.
