New Movie Review “They Call Him OG” : A Stylish Spectacle

In They Call Him OG, director Sujeeth makes no apologies for celebrating star power and mass appeal. The movie is a high-voltage gangster drama with Pawan Kalyan’s aura at its centre. The movie relies on showiness and swagger, which can be exciting at times but also shows flaws in the story.

What Works

Pawan Kalyan’s presence on screen: This is a showcase over the lead actor all the way through. His charm, style, and ability to control the frame often save scenes that would otherwise fall flat.

Visuals and technical polish: cinematography shows off smooth frames, bright lighting, and stylised locations. The way OG looks is like a movie and full of energy.

Action and spectacle: The movie is full of set pieces, from sword fights to gun fights. It doesn’t make you stop and think very often; if it gets your heart racing, it has done its job.

Music and the background score: Thaman’s music brings the action to life, letting vital elements stand out while making fight scenes more compelling.

What Falls Short

Clichés as well as thin tales: A lot of the story’s twists are familiar: a kidnapped child, a wife who wants revenge, and power struggles in the underworld. The emotional weight is usually thin, and the remaining half loses its vibrancy.

The film at times rushes through significant incidents, and shifts in tone render the entire thing less cohesive.

Too much focus on the fans: Sometimes, OG feels more like an ode to its superstar than a full movie. The focus on improving the main character stronger often overshadows the supporting cast and the drama.

Final Verdict

Fans who’re ready to rejoice in Pawan Kalyan’s larger-than-life charm are going to like They Call Him OG the most. It does well as a show in terms of style, visuals, and action. But as a crime drama on its own, it seldom rises over the combination of its parts and clichés. This one will give you your fix if you’re seeking a lot of energy in place of a lot of good creating.
