Rohit’s century also carried individual significance. He reached his 35th ODI hundred and crossed the landmark of 12,000 ODI runs, becoming only the third Indian batter after Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli to reach that figure.

West Indies Batters Produce a Record Total

It would be easy to overlook the quality of West Indies’ batting because India eventually won so comfortably.

That would be unfair to the visitors.

For West Indies, the remaining ODI in New Chandigarh offers an opportunity to finish the series with a stronger performance rather than allowing the final result to overshadow the progress shown by their batting unit.

The West Indies vs India series has already delivered two very different high-scoring matches.

The first ODI demonstrated India’s ability to chase a substantial total through centuries from Gill and Kohli. The second went to another level, with West Indies scoring 405 before India responded with 406/2.
